The James Island Presbyterian Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)3, incorporated organization. Formed in 1983, with the fundamental purpose of supporting and benefiting the outreach ministry of the James Island Presbyterian Church through the development and management of the charitable, religious, and educational services.
The James Island Presbyterian Foundation was conceptualized in 1983 by selected leaders (elders and trustees) and the pastor (Rev. Ron Botsford) of the James Island Presbyterian Church as a management tool and alternative strategy to provide increased and focused community mission and outreach efforts on behalf of the church. The effort was for this new way of "doing ministry" to be a shared vision of mission by the board/staff of the JIPF and session/congregation of the JIPC. The connectional, yet independent, relationship of both bodies was designed to expand outreach efforts within the community through a felt sense of call and synergism while serving God through serving others.
This organization is governed by an eleven-member board of directors. The board is responsible for setting organizational goals and objectives, developing policies, approving an annual budget, and employing and evaluating the executive director.
